Just did. I was unaware of the purple star thing.
Recognizing your name from help in the past, I went back and purple starred some of your replies (as well as others) on previous threads.
Thanks.
Nevermind...
I saw on the 2010 server Organization Configuration -> Mailbox -> Database Management that there was an entry named "Public Folder Database" so I assumed this is what the dropdown box was referring to and went ahead and moved it.
I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.
Thanks ShackDaddy.
When I select "Move All Replicas", a window pops up that says "Select the server to which you want to move..." with a drop down box. My 2010 server name is not in the drop down. Only available option is "Public Folder Database".
Does that seem normal?
Thanks for the replies.
We basically stopped using Public Folders on the 2003 server a few years ago and used Sharepoint instead so I skipped the step about public folders because I didn't think it was necessary since we weren't using them.
On the 2003 server, yes indeed...there is stuff in...
Problem - New users created in AD not showing up in Outlook GAL. They do show up in OWA GAL. From the research I've done, that points to an OAB problem.
We recently upgraded from 2003 to 2010. Basically followed the guide found here -...
We're suddenly having an issue sending to one particular domain from our Exchange 2003 server. I've spoken to an IT person on the recipient side and they say it's not their problem (its a government agency). Here are the details -
Specific NDR message - <mail.ourdomain.com #5.5.0 smtp;554...
Good morning,
We've suddenly started experiencing a serious problem on our exchange server and I'm not really sure of the cause. We have over 11,000 outbound queues (internet mail smtp connector) created (some with message counts over 1,000) that are all trying to send out a bogus email message...
We've recently noticed an uptick in mail that is getting delayed and eventually fails to send to certain domains with a timeout error. In the past, I always told the user it was a problem with the receiving mail server but I'm now not convinced that is the case. A user sends an email from their...
I'm ashamed to admit this, but I never realized that.
I see now on the Exchange Server, under All Programs -> Microsoft Exchange that ADUC is there. Wow.
Okay...final question (hopefully)...
What effect will upgrading AD to 2008 have on this instance of ADUC (the one installed on the Exchange...
Forgive my ignorance...
How would you go about doing this on the Exchange server itself?
I've never done this before. I've only ever created users on a DC with the Exchange Admin pack installed.
Would you install the AD admin pack on the Exchange server just as I would on my local PC?
One last question that is related to this, but sort of off topic.
I did not take into consideration Exchange and the administration of it.
Right now, we are running a 2003 domain with Exchange 2003. Plan was to upgrade domain to 2008 (as described above) followed by upgrading Exchange to 2010...
Yes, I understand. Thank you.
Both shops I've worked in have been very small domains (1 forest, 1 domain and 6 or fewer DC's). I've just gotten in the habit of calling the one DC that holds all 5 FSMO roles (which was the case in both shops) the "primary" domain controller.
I realize this is a...
Our ultimate objective is to, in fact, raise the domain level to 2008. It's what I've been asked to do by management.
In that case, it appears that all DC's must be 2008 in order for that to be done, correct?
Also, since the time of the original post I have installed DNS on the remote offices...
Ok. This is good to know because it was not how I understood it.
With this new information, it now appears that I have a new plan?
Going back to my original post, I have the following setup:
DC1 (2003)- PDC (Holder of FSMO roles). Resides in main office.
DC2 (2003)- Secondary DC in main...
Hi Pat,
I have one additional question for you, for clarification purposes since I have realized that I was a little confused in my original post.
In my original post, I was confused about at which point the domain/forest level became 2008. I thought that transferring the FSMO roles was the...
We are planning on upgrading our AD from 2003 to 2008. I've read (at least a dozen times) the instructions on how to do it found here -
http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/sanderberkouwer/archive/2008/03/02/transitioning-your-active-directory-to-windows-server-2008.aspx
We are going the...
Ok. I'm confused then.
When on my PC (which is joined to the domain) when I run the "net time" command, it says "current time at DomainController2 is xxxxx", which implies that it is getting the time from DomainController2.
When I use the NETDOM utility to check which server holds the 5 FSMO...
