Anyone using Zen Imaging....this is for you

We've also just implemented ZEN imaging and are very pleased with the results. A quick question: is there any way to 'hide' a PC's diagnostic partition that gets set to the D: drive after ZEN/PXE imaging?

    NW5.1 and Win2K

We're finally upgrading the desktop OS's to 2K and I was wondering how most people set up their policies and user accounts. Originally, we thought by using DLUs we could track what user made changes or installed software. Now I'm thinking that having a "generic" user for the local...

IE5.5 Favorites on a network drive?

Thanks for that info - I was using regedit actually, I'll try using regedt32. I did find some other registry entries that appear to define the location for the Favorites folder. I'll keep testing and use the regedt32 instead...

IE5.5 Favorites on a network drive?

Does anyone know of a way to have the Favorites for IE5.5 stored on users' home directories on a server? I've tried changing the registry key for Favorites, but it keeps getting set back to the default for Win2K. Any help appreciated...

Do I need to upgrade to Netware 6 soon??

    Locking/hiding Netscape 7 prefs

Well after messing around with various files, it might not be that good of info. Depending on how much time and effort you want to put into locking the prefs - it involved editing the .XUL files (similar to editing html) which are packaged in different .JAR files located in the chrome...

    Locking/hiding Netscape 7 prefs

Set your preferences, then rename (and hide if you want to) the file called prefui32.dll - it's usually under C:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program. BTW, I did find some info on Netscape 7.x prefs also...

    Locking/hiding Netscape 7 prefs

We've previously used Netscape 4.x and had the Preferences 'hidden' so users could not change them. We're testing Netscape 7.02 and was wondering if anyone knew how to hide or lock the preferences in that version. Thanks in advance...

    CNA 5.1 to 6 or 6.5 udgrade

The upcoming Network+ cert requirement is mentioned at: http://www.novell.com/training/certinfo/cna/index.html It's between the 2 boxes that describe the Netware 6 and Netware 5 CNAs. Personally, I'd go for the 6.x cert - with the deadline in place for CNEs, who knows how long the CNA5 will...

Best position for Caching Server (Proxy)

Is there a "best" place? I always thought it was a personal preference thing... We currently have out Stratacache box on the other side of the firewall (public side). But we're planning on moving it into the DMZ. I'd be interested in hearing some other views on this as well...

My official RANT on the value of Certifications

Couldn't agree more with the starting at the bottom of the ladder and working your way up with experience gained. Certs gained along the way are just the gravy. But I think situations are different for different people in different places. My CNA is what got me in the door at the contract...

We currently use Ghost but will be implementing Win2K and ZEN4 within the next 6-9 months - I was also wondering about how the ZENworks imaging performed, thanks for the info.

    Thoughts on desktop OS upgrades

Thanks for the replies - I guess I'm most concerned with which will cause the least problems overall. If we went with 2K, I'd hate to have to go through all this again in a year or two if/when 2K support discontinues.... Isn't XP supposedly built on the same NT based kernel? If not, how...

How to recreate appl. object ?

Oops - I meant to say create a new application object in NWAdmin. Then select create with .fil files and browse to their location....

How to recreate appl. object ?

Just run snAppShot, choose Standard, and create application with .fil files. Then you can browse to the location where your .fil files are located.
