What is that portion called in indesign where your page that is designed sits on? it's like a large rectangular working "layer" if you want to put items off the side of the page? How do you adjust this size of this "working layer"?

When I try to set styles for the tables, it seems I can't get a consistent result with the border lines. I guess there's the border for the cell and the border for the table and sometimes both at the same time. I keep having to manually change it and my results are never...
Hmmm...not exactly. I actually have chosen the font and the particular "1" of that font is not good, so I want to change that one character only.
If that's not possible I'll just have to do it manually.

Is a way to export styles into a file so it can be used with other documents?
I know you can set your default styles prior to opening a document, but I am still figuring them out while I work on my first document. It would be nice to be able to export and update the styles file regularly.
