Make sure that there is entry in file /etc/rc2.d/S99oracle :
su -oracle -c $ORACLE_HOME/dbstart.ksh
File owner root:other . IF file is not exists then execute root.sh again.
& In oratab file
$ORACLE_SID:$ORACLE_HOME:Y
entry
If it shows N in front of SID entry then make it Y so that...
