I can't seem to get MySQL to work on a DEC Alpha True64 Unix 5.1 machine. Most of the time it doesn't start at all (no PID file, no mysql.sock file). Occasionally it does start, then when I make a few connections to it, it will core dump. I've tried 3.23.33 & 3.23.38.
I'm having the same problem on a DEC Alpha machine running DEC UNIX (Tru64) 5.1. I start the service. It appears to be running (using ps). It does not create a mysql.sock (socket) file in the directory specified in /etc/my.cnf.
