MS Access 2.0 was compatible with Windows 3.0 (16 bit) from 1993 or so. MS Office 95 (and Access 95) were 32 bit and written to go along with Windows 95. Since Microsoft keeps some of its knowledgebase articles around forever, it's easy to find a bit of something like this that seems applicable...
This is what my row source looks like (This is in the design-view GUI of Access 2007, the Lookup tab of Field Properties. Is there another way of viewing it that will make the syntax look more like yours?):
