    mde is missing a reference

    You shouldn't use FullPath for references, that will always cause an error when it's missing. Because if the reference is missing Access won't know the full path and it will bomb. Just use isbroken. This can't be and MDE issue. Compile the mdb first before creating MDE. It may give you an idea
