Thanks Martin, but the Antec case comes with three preinstalled 120mm fans. Not sure why they put Molex four pin connectors on the leads. The Asus board has the tiny three pin headers.

UPDATE: The new build went smoothly and is up and running with OS installed. Still adding utilities and apps before going online. Will post photos then.
Once again thanks everyone for your help. Couldn't have done it w/o you!!

Looking for a source for female plugs to mate with M/B chassis fan headers (Asus P5Q) to splice into fan power leads. Want to take advantage of Asus fan utilities.
Also need a source for a case speaker.
Thanks,

paparazi what you're saying then is the OPK is not needed for a full, complete XP installation? The way Microsoft words it, the OPK is needed for proper installation.
Thanks for the other info.

Have a question re: installation of Win XP Pro SP3 OEM Sysytem Builder Pack. MS mentions a OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK). Does the OPK do anything more than apply a personalized logo? According to MS:

I've done some of the test suggested. No luck so far. This was a well maintained machine, cleaned inside and out regularly, all updates, defragged regularly, not abused or even moved.
It will be about two weeks or so before I have the new build ready to replace this machine. It's still...
Running Win XP sp3 reinstalled twice. "C" drive is 80% free. 2GB RAM.
I'll see what the HD site has to offer for utilities. What's the HD ribbon cable failure rate?
Thanks,

Actually, I've done that......twice. Just thought someone might have had experience with this type of intermittent performance.
Not computers, but I've seen electrical contacts become oxidized over time and give intermittent connections, some times heat after being on for some time will cause...
Have a five year old Dell Precision 650 Xeon. Opperations like opening another window can take five minutes. Also, getting the external flash card reader to show up is sometimes impossible until the machine has been on for a couple of hours. Seems things are erratic or nonoperational then...

After many hours online, trying to select what I need, quick, not too wild, and yet something I can expect to use (Photoshop) for the next two years, I think I have a motherboard and processor:

Ha, ha. This quest of mine to figure out what I need to build (rather than just buy) a machine to run Photoshop reminds me of organic chem. Comparing what Photoshop supports, (and can use) vs what hardware is out there (a lot gaming stuff that does not apply) has been a task.
I do appreciate...
I hear (and discovered when looking for reviews/sources) what everyone is saying about two socket motherboards. What confuses me is that Dell continues to offer many two socket Precision machines. Two dual core and even two quad core processors...
