There're are some "power" things I'd like to do with my emails, such as:
-Parsing them and exporting to a CSV file
-Sorting the emails into folders based on some rather complicated rules
Which is the best email "client" to use if i need to do things like this?
-It'd be nice to use gmail...
I want an program that keeps a log of the IP address in/out of the computer. Does anything like this exist? I know of ZoneAlarm, but I don't want a program that actually blocks IPs, just keeps a passive log of them.
I also want an program that keeps a log of all pop/smtp emails in/out of the...
Finally got an update from the police today. The case has been transferred to another detective -- which made me groan upon hearing the news -- but it seems like this one has been much more active at least. I spoke with him on the phone today, and he's run the name through the system /...
I'm trying to download all the messages in my gmail account for backup. This is 1000s and 1000s of messages. But when I download them into my desktop client (I've tried both Outlook 2007 and Thunderbird 2.0) they only download emails in chunks of 300-400. Then I have to rehit "send/receive"...
Here's an update on this...
-I copied over all the Firefox profile files, and then used Nirsoft's Firefox MozillaHistoryView, MozillaCacheView, MozillaCookiesView, and PasswordFox in an attempt to find any identifying information on the thief. No luck though. He only went to some random sites...
I'm trying to geolocate an IP address: 75.83.156.16.
But when I enter it into various engines online, they yield a number of different results.
http://www.ipligence.com/geolocation
yields Palmdale, CA
http://www.ip2location.com/demo.aspx
yields Buena Park, CA...
Cool, now have IP from tracert
And MAC address through ipconfig.
I'll contact the police with this, and keep bugging them, and hopefully they'll do something with this.
In the mean-time I'll continue looking into the keylogger possibility -- it's really tough to find one that isn't detected...

No I don't know that he's using wirelss unfortunately. But if he was -- what do you mean by "get a stumbler and track him down using GPS."? Wouldn't I need to know what his wireless router's name was at the very least to do something like this?
I don't know of any keyloggers that
a...
My laptop was stolen out of my apartment a few weeks ago. It had Logmein, which is remote access software, installed. I've been monitoring my Logmein account regularly, and have seen the laptop come online 3 times now. I feel like I should be able to take advantage of this and track down the...
I have an interesting email problem.
First, I'm really sorry for the length of this question! But it's a totally riveting read I swear…
So I'm managing the email for an office of 3 people. Previously each person just had their own email address, and things were very simple. jon@bleh.com...
If you have to go to the trouble of editing the registry and everything, I'll probably just manually recreate it. Was
hoping to avoid, but it's really not actually THAT much work. I'm just lazy.
Thanks for your help everyone!
My start menu's "pinned" shortcut items got wiped somehow. (See image attachment for clarification of what I mean by "pinned" items).
I have a backup, so I should be able to restore them. The problem is I don't know where the files for the pinned items are stored. I know the Start Menu...
Thanks for your help.
But I figured out the cause, and WOW. It was Acronis Backup. Apparently the version I have deletes the files in Application Data among others sometimes. So the program you use to backup your data DELETES it instead. What an incredible blunder by Acronis.
More info...
Ok, something weird and disturbing has started occurring on my computer. Approximately every 3 weeks or so my Application data and Apps folders just vanish without a trace (inside "C:\Documents and Settings\name\Local Settings"). I'll start Outlook and suddenly it can't find my Inbox, and I'll...
I've got a bunch of EPS and AI files on my computer, but no good way to browse through them at a good clip. Are there any programs that allow you to view EPS and AI files as thumbnails, and fairly rapidly?
I have this complicated vector image with a lot going on. I want to remove all of one color/make it transparent. But I can't figure out how to accomplish this! I can change all of that color using Edit Colors, but there's no option there to switch to the [None] color option, unfortunately...
I have some coupon codes I'd like to sell on Ebay. Usually when people are buying coupon codes they are looking to get them right away, and so I'd like to be able to accommodate that, but of course I don't want to just hang around my computer all day waiting for sales. So I'd like to set up an...
