I am pretty new to Sharepoint and to MS Search Server Express. All searching in Sharepoint was working previous to when I installed MS Search Server Express the other day. Now I cannot search using Search Server Express and also cannot search using the "Search this site" box in Sharepoint. In...
Thanks for the tip...mine did run ok, although it took much longer than expected. The only issues I ran into after was with the OWA client.
We were getting "Outlook Web App didn't initialize...couldn't find a base theme...". I fixed it by running c:\program files\microsoft\exchange\exchange...
I got a suggestion on another forum to do the prerequisites again and reinstall. I originally added the features for the prerequisites under Web Server (IIS) through Server Manager from the instructions in the release notes, but I guess something must have been missing. I re-added them via a...
I took a chance and rebooted the Exchange server and all the Exchange services started and the version shows as Version 14.2 (Build 247.5) which is correct...but I'm still concerned that it failed on the "Client Access Role" step and then cancelled out on the "Mailbox Role" and "Finalizing...
I attempted to install Exchange 2010 sp2 this morning and it failed on the Client Access Role portion. This is on a Windows Standard 2008 R2 server...it's our only Exchange server. Here is the error on the screen:

Same user every time, but no way to tell what password is being tried. At this point we have talked to the user and are sure of who was trying to hack the account. But if I see it in the logs again, I'll want to try all the suggestions so we can have better information.
Thanks for the suggestion of trying Thunderbird...its errors actually helped me to find the solution. It led me to tweak some more settings on the GWIA and then the error I was receiving in the GWIA logs became "GroupWise login failed: 8503".
Found this error on another forum and found that...
I will post in the Groupwise forum (and we use strong passwords, so it would have taken this hacker quite a long time to hack that particular password).
It was more a question of was there some utility or software I could have run on our network outside of Groupwise that would have captured...
I recently moved my entire Groupwise system to a new server. Before this, our external web server was able to use our email server to send email over smtp using a particular email account. Now we get this in the GWIA logs:
01-31-08 14:04:30 3 DMN: MSG 120 Accepted connection: [##.###.#.##]...
We use Groupwise and noticed that for over a day exactly every 5 minutes, this showed up in our gateway log:
Accepted POP3 connection with: ##.##.##.##
POP3 command: USER <username>
GroupWise login failed: 8209
POP3 command: QUIT
POP3 session ended: ##.##.##.##
So I'm assuming that someone was...
I am running CA's eTrust ITM ver 8.1 and all of a sudden this week, I am getting emails from "PestPatrol" <pestscanner@(our email server's ip address)> every time that it finds a new pest on a user's PC.
Anybody have an idea where I can disable this?
I have a 3com 8250 access point that looks like its MAC address has been hacked and is now 30:31:32:33:34:35. Anyone know what I can do to return it to its original setting?
I have a parent folder with many subfolders underneath it.

I want one group of users to have all rights to the parent folder and all rights to the subfolders underneath it.
I want another group of users to only have all rights to the...
I am using Windows 2000 and trying to create a batch file that will set a variable named "TOTFILES" to the number of files found in a folder called "c:\test". I then want it to output "GREATERTHAN4" if the number of files found in the folder is greater than 4.
Here is the test batch file I...
Unfortunately we are not licensed for Viewpoint currently...but we may have to invest in it soon if I can't block this IP.
I did try a rule: "Deny", "Any Service" from WAN source 213.35.101.0-213.35.101.255 to Destination "*", but that didn't seem to help.
So this morning, I put in 2 rules in...
