well . . . It sure seems to be any audio from any format from any application in the PC. A streight PCM WAV file played by Cool Edit Pro sounds the same way. When XP installed, it upgraded my Windows Media Player to 6, I believe and I prefer the previous, boxy looking, less bloated version...
