hmmm...still not work, it is not in Program File and I no longer have the previous version of vpn client. I wonder how the installer discovered that there is a previouse installation? that piece of information must have been stored somewhere. If so maybe I could fool the installer by removing...- gf049

thanks burtsbees. no, when I uninstalled the old client I didn't go through the Add/Remove program, I just deleted the directory. and I guess that's the problem. and no, Start-->All Program shows no vpn (cisco). I did have regedit'ed and deleted all cisco keys. after all this the 28000 error...- gf049
