Hi tjbradford
In registry, go to: HKLM > Software > McAfee > AVEngine and you should be able to see the DAT version, DAT Date and many other attributes in Hexadecimal.
If its not already, all you then need to do is convert the Hexadecimal to Decimal.
Thanks

Hi Plarocque and everyone else.
I think the one thing that everyone failed to realise here is that the Access Protection option to "Prevent McAfee services from being stopped" is a form of Self-Protection introduced by McAfee in their product.
As we all know, malware nowadays gets more and...
Hi 1NewBee
BramB suggestion is true but still complex.
What u need to do is set up a Mirror Task in VirusScan. The machine on which you create the mirror task will need access to the internet.
The machine will download updates from the internet and copy (mirror) these updates to a folder of...
Hi Molenski
Bugguy51 is right.
However i would ask you to re-consider since installing using GPO is not supported by McAfee.
This means that if you come across any issues, McAfee will not provide support and you will be recommended to remove the product and install using a supported method...
Hi Jason
How are you configuring the agents to find the repositories?
In the EPO Agent policy, there are options to configure the clients to choose the repositories they update from.
I think there are 3 options:
1) Ping Time
2) Subnet
3) Static list
1) self explanatory
2) depends if you...
Hi
Firstly, are you aware that VSE 7.1 is no longer supported by McAfee? This is qouted in there end of life statement.
http://www.mcafee.com/us/enterprise/support/customer_service/end_life.html
Also, VSE 8.0 is end of life December 2009, so you need to start considering upgrading very soon...
Hi Molenski and vampirej
In EPO 4.0, you check in the full ZIP package, whereas in EPO 3.6.1, you unzip and browse to the unzipped folder and find the pkgcatlog.z file
Also, you may want to check the ZIP package, as windows has its own way of handling ZIP files. Therefore, right click on the...
Hi All
1) I would suggest that you apply MS08-067 which is the Microsoft fix for Conficker.
2) With most recent DAT files, run a SCHEDULED On Demand Scan > Reboot > SCHEDULED On Demand Scan
The reason for it being scheduled is because Conficker requires elevated priveledges to be removed. A...
Hi erdal01
Firstly, I would have suggested that you investigate the slowness of the PC with VSE 8.7 installed. Why is the PC slow? Is it slow before you reach the login screen or after e.g. at "Applying computer settings"
This issue with McShield you are experiencing occurs when you remove VSE...
Hi Fabio
Jeff's response is correct, although to be a little more specific, you will need to customize and run a compliance report which specifies the compliance of machines in your network.
Although there are a few things to consider:
1) Are the agents installed on the machines running VSE...
Hi erdal01
Any task created in EPO can only reach the target machine if the target machine has an agent installed on it which is communicating with EPO.
Therefore, in this case the tasks you have created are useless and would only be useful if you were upgrading a version e.g. you have agent...
Hi
8.5 , 8.5.0i and 8.5i are all the same product VirusScan 8.5.
I am not sure as to why it is being reported as three different versions but i wouldnt let this confuse you too much, as they are all referring to the same product version.
Thanks

Hi
BramB is right to a certain extent.
Sometimes you can be running the latest agent but can still be installed to a Network Associates directory. This can be as a result of an agent upgrade rather than a fresh install, where the upgrade overwrites the Network Associates Directory.
In the...

Hi
You must be running another McAfee product called ePolicy Orchestrator (EPO) in your environment
EPO is a management product which gives an administrator the ability of managing all VSE 8.5 installations on all machines, including policies.
EPO enforces policies, therefore any local...
Hi
Are all the machines without an internet connection?
You could update VirusScan on one machine using the superdat and then set up a mirror task in VirusScan to replicate the DATS to a folder and then point all the clients to update from this folder.
I would suggest downloading the product...
Hi
Is it not possible to make them all Global Admins in EPO?
Or...
Have one login access as Global Admin for all???
Ill try to replicate your issue in the meantime but cannot promise a result
I would also suggest in the meantime that you contact McAfee tech support and see what is...
Hi
It depends on which product you are referring to.
When you say "McAfee", there are several products which download a DAT file.
Some examples are VirusScan Enterprise, ePolicy Orchestrator, Groupshield for Exchange / Domino etc etc
Which product.....???????????????????????
McAfeeGeek
The information you have provided is very limited...!
Which product is not updating? (name, version of product)
What is the error that you are receiving?? Type the error exactly as it appears!
More information please.
Thanks
