Oh, I had every intention of just using the mic jack on the card itself for recording, I just wanted to get the front panel hooked up to make it easier to use my headphones on the fly. Could the amp in the speaker negatively effect playback?

The E6850 is not a very good value at that price vs the newer E8400. It's 60 bucks cheaper, and is on the new 45nm wolfdale core, which will run much faster and cooler, has more cache, SSE4, the list goes on. :)

I guess you're right, thanks a lot for the advice. If I think about it, it's not so bad if the 79$ motherboard fails sometime down the road, as long as the 200$ videocard is getting replaced.

Thanks for that link, it seems like that's what happened. I put the videocard through some torture, and none of my games are running any worse, and I can't see any artifacting even when it's hot, so I'm guessing like you said once the drivers kick in they disappear. I called the company I orderd...
