It seems to be affecting several machines, so I have always assumed it isn't hardware, but I will give a different keyboard a try.

I have checked the bios and num lock is enabled.
Num lock comes on ok when the PC starts up, the problem is getting it to stay on without it switching itself off whilst I am working.
(Is there a keyboard shortcut that switches it off that I could be hitting by mistake?)...
Numlock is on when I start the PC, but switches itself off at random. This seems to happen on most PCs
Is there any way of having it permantly set to on.
Using Windows XP Pro and the regedit\control panel\keyboard\startup value is set to 2

Yes, we have the front end on each users local hard drive and the back end data on the network. I suspect the network isn't as stable as it could be, but have no way of monitoring it.
