Running XP Pro SP3 Desktop
All jump drives worked properly before on the desktop
All jump drives work properly on a laptop and have for years as well as on the Desktop
Now only one jump drive works on the desktop.
The other three report USB device not recognized.
I turned off the desktop and...
As suggested,I installed sp31290.exe and it had no effect.
Stand By is still grayed out.
So again I ask -
Under what conditions does XP show StandBy grayed and thus not active ?
TIA

I will have to Reload XP Pro.
How do I determine which options are to be set properly in the BIOS BEFORE I reload - especially Power management settings ?
Thanks for the heads up.

I agree.
Unfortunately chat support suggested I reset the machine to its BIOS default settings (F9 then F10) and I did.
On reboot I got a black screen offering 5 startup options.
None of the options work.
We removed both batteries waited five minutes and rebooted.
No help at all.

And none of these tabs mentions Hibernate.
The article discusses the Hibernate tab which I don't see :-(

No, I do not have any .cpp or projects called Lib.
If I remember correctly, the Linker needs one or more .obj files as input and access to *.lib files.
I do have a vtkTest01.cpp and a vtkTest01.obj Using these resources, it should build a vtkTest01.exe

1. What would cause the Linker to look for a file called lib.obj
2. Could it be that one or more of the .Lib files would generate this error

It seems the linker can't find a lib.obj file.
There isn't one! (see the build result below)
There is a vtkTest01.obj file which is what I expect to see. What would cause the linker to request a lib.obj file?
vtkTest01.cpp
AssemblyInfo.cpp
