Sorry it took so long to come back, I changed my email addy and so I didn't get the notification.
Anyways, as for the electronics book, if you mean a good one covering both basic and advanced principles, hows about;
Electrical Circuit Theory and Technology, by John Bird?
I'm not so sure that...
Not sure what's happening here. If your AC is still causing problems then you may want to get a sparky to check it out. A fault somewhere could be causing your issues. The front end of your UPS, assuming it's true online should block mains bourne interference from what appears at it's output...
Yup. Depends how you choose to look at things though. An offline UPS is more efficient, (whether the money you save due to that is worth it or not I don't know), They have two main types, ones where the inverter runs off load until needed or one where the unit has enough capacity to keep the...
The UPS beeping during heavy load puts forward one of two scenarios.
First, (if the heavy load is on the UPS), is your UPS is too small.
Second, (if the heavy load is on the site), then it sounds as if the high current draw is causing the supply voltage to drop and the UPS goes on to...
Andrew, I don't agree that the statement 'UPS powered kit should be run on batteries all the time' is true. A conventional UPS topology means that the UPS has the power running through it at all times. It doesn't actually 'kick in' as is usually wrongly claimed.
The supply comes into the...
Wahnula just because a UPS is a true online doesn't mean it is running on the battery all the time - I don't know of a UPS that does. I assume you mean a unit that runs as you say on line and not in bypass with a switch to inverter when the need arises. You may have a problem with the UPS...
Or, if you have a file/folder that you want the path of keep a terminal window open and drag the item onto it.
A much easier way and it means you can then copy and paste the text for long path names that are buried many folders deep.
I don't think the difference in Phases will cause a problem for your load. I have been to many sites where their servers, (with dual power supplies), run from completely independent sources. This is assuming that the loads are not paralleled in as such and are single phase. I do wonder tough...
Depends upon the battery type. They come in a few flavours depending upon the technology that's used to make them. Ni-Cads, Cells, Plante cells and VRLA to name but a few.
I'll assume you're using VRLAs. These 'usually' come in two varieties. The 5 year life, (3-5 in practice), and the 10 year...
It's all about power factor. You will probably find that the guys from APC have rated their UPS at 0.8PF and the MG boys at about 0.7-0.8, there won't be any difference in reality. Comet Extremes are right buggers to work with, never seen a Smart in that size though so can't comment on these.
By the way a 20aH battery will not supply 20A for an hour in practice, it may in theory but I am not sure down to what voltage level the batt manufacturer has taken his figures from, I would suggest that the battery will have have discharged to a level that see permanent damage.
What you need to...
They are really quite reliable in my experience, (the one with the calculator keypad and fluorescent green display right?). Cheap and simple from a build point of view but if I remember rightly they are an absolute bugger to navigate the menus on.
One thing you can be sure of is that the next...
