Thanks, I was finally able to test out the instructions on hairlesssupportmonkey's link and it worked with my windows 10 machine. Changing the adapter metric settings I was able to console into a Cisco router and allow ATT to use teamviewer via wireless internet connection (my phone as a...
I would like to know if there is a way to stay connected to the internet via wifi (dhcp) while connecting a disconnecting my wired ethernet connection (also usually dhcp).
When I use the wifi internet connection for say sharing the screen or using a chat feature while working on a network device...
Any reasonable priced TDR's recommended? I have a DSL modem I could use for DSL jobs. I need to extend some t-1's in mall with some crappy house pairs. The speed drops out to nothing by the time it reaches it's destination. I'd like to see how long they are and maybe get some t-1 extenders if...
What is a good device to use for testing house pairs to extend T1 or DSL? I've been working at malls with old long sometimes spliced, bridged cat3 cabling with soldered posts, and the signal craps out by the time it reaches the destination. Something like the LEC uses to test the DSL signal...
It was definitely worth collecting a couple years ago in FL. A garbage bag full of cat 5 scraps would get us around $75. If people are still getting electrocuted trying to dig up live wires to steal it's probably still paying good!
How are things going in Cape Coral, Frank? I had to move from Ft. Myers Beach to Pittsburgh because of the hit we took from the housing mess. I hope things are picking up there. Gets too damn cold up here for a Florida boy.
Well, I tried them out and they seem to work fine. You definitely need a light source to make sure they are seated right. Quite a jump from the polishing types.
Has anyone used these AFL Fast fiber connectors? They supposedly just have a plastic key that you squeeze and remove after you insert the cleaved fiber. No tool needed.

I worked for a company that installed and maintained Nortel phone switches for a large high end home building company out of Lee county, FL who made the decision to replace everything with Cisco equipment. After trashing all the Nortel equipment from many sites all over South Florida, the only...
I think it just says this number is not available. I called it and it says no longer in service .This isn't the first time I've installed these modems for dedicated (what the work order calls it) dsl lines and get the same ringing line.I thought it might be what a "dedicated" dsl line does...
I didn't call the number. I keep getting told that it a dedicated DSL line and it shouldn't have a number attached to it. Maybe it was just tagged with one for labeling purposes? It not only doesn't have dial tone, it starts ringing right away as if you dialed a number when you go off hook. I...
There is a recording after a few rings. Also it was tagged with a phone number and was still attached as a co trunk on a pbx. I assume it is no longer being used with the pbx since there is no dial tone.
When trying to i.d. the phone number on a line that had DSL installed on it, the line starts ringing when going off hook. No dial tone. Does this mean it is used for only DSL? Would that be considered a dedicated ADSL (DADSL) line?
I think the reason is the second card can only be station modules, so no need for the cards to be configured. And I have gap in DN's, I think I might have to change that manually. Thanks for helping with my wild goose chase.
