I would recommend DD-WRT as a great option. It is a 3rd party firmware update which works on a number of devices from Buffalo, Linksys and even the cheap and cheerful FON router.

1. Is it possible to hardwire the new Access Points into the network? Wireless Bridging/Repeating should only be used as a final option. It decreases throughput by 50% for each repeated node and causes channel interference problems.
