Thanks. I had seen brief flashes before when I didn't have the clips in each track lined up properly.
I started thinking that additive dissolves might be prone to flicker/flashing due to the nature of the scenes that are involved. I've switched to cross-dissolves and have been happier.
I doubt it is my computer - dual core Pentium 4/3-something GHz, 2 GB RAM, 1 TB SATA 300 MB/s hard drive space
I'll look into the "interpret footage" option.

When I use this transition it always produces a bit of a flicker in my videos. If I recall correctly this has been true since Premiere 5. Anyone else notice it, and better, have a fix or work-around.
