Ok, here are the settings I have:
Main security tab:
Read & Execute
List contents
Read
Write
*Modify is not checked
Advanced tab:
Everything checked except Full Control. Delete Subfolders/Files, Delete, and Change Permissions
Since Modify is not checked on the main security tab, is this the...
What we want:
Let users create new items and edit all new and existing items.
We dont want users to delete or move. They can copy, but not move.
What permissions do I need to set?
Thank you,
Jody
And that is the reason my DCs in my production environment are exactly that, just DCs.
This is just a little test setup on a test server that I wanted to test the functionality of a crm app between the test server and test desktop. Just trying to see if it does a few things I need it to do...
Ok, I realize it exch and dc should not be on the same server. Lets get past that b/c I dont even really use it.
The desktop will be used to test the client side of the crm software....I just don't know if I have the time to go through the virualization setup and I know nothing about it. I...
well lets say, for example, I already have exchange on the dc test server and it was worked fine as far as pulling old emails off of old backups.
AND i want to add SQL to the server to test a crm program. WIll that work?
AND lets also say, besides the virtualization option, will the single...
I was wondering if I would run into any issues if I had sql, exchange, and the domain controller all on one box for a test server?
Also, I wanted to set up a very small test network. Could I do this simply with one server, a router, and a desktop? If not, what would you recommend for a very...
The file is about 150gigs and usually transfers with no problem in 1 to 2 hours. Today it has been giving me this error when it is about half way through
I am trying to copy a large windows bakup file to an external harddrive and I keep getting this error: "Cannot copy: insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service". It has nothing to do with the speed of the fileserv. It is brand new. Could it be a caching issue?
Thanks!
I was wondering if there was something for Windows Server 2003 similiar to the Terminal Services RemoteApp on Windows Server 2008?
Here is a description of Remote App for 2008 "RemoteApp programs are programs that are accessed remotely through Terminal Services and appear as if they are...
No.
Each time a user logs in, does the cached file download the newest data? I am looking for ways to decrease the time it takes for users to log in and this is one of the things I was considering.
Thanks
Is there a way to disable Cached Exchange mode for all users at one time either in Active Directory or on Exchange server or must I go to each computer and disable it from there? I believe a few computers may still have it enabled, but I am unsure of which.
Thanks,
J
i also get TIME_WAIT on epmap
example from fileserv:
TCP fileserv:epmap pcjody.xxxx.com:2901 TIME_WAIT
TCP fileserv:epmap pcjody.xxxx.com:2902 TIME_WAIT
TCP fileserv:epmap pcjody.xxxx.com:2903 TIME_WAIT
example from pcjody
TCP pcjody:2900 fileserv.xxxx.com:epmap...
and when DC2 is off, I get a little of this:
TCP pcjody:1846 dc1.xxxxxx:netbios-ssn TIME_WAIT
TCP pcjody:1850 dc0.xxxxxx:microsoft-ds TIME_WAIT
TCP pcjody:1852 dc1.xxxxxx:microsoft-ds TIME_WAIT
TCP pcjody:1854 dc1.xxxxxx:microsoft-ds...
pretty sure it is domain based. I have created DFS on the new DC.
I think I have covered everything except demote the old dc (DC2). The problem continues to happen when I turn dc2 off. I guess I can go ahead and demote it, but I dont want to do that and the problem continue then not be able...
I was looking under DFS on the fileserver and there is \\DC1\Public and \\DC2\Public but no root target for DC0. Should I create that?
DC0 is a brand new server with more power than it knows what to do with and the environment is very small. I guess I could transfer DHCP to DC0 even though...
Update: It has to be DC related. I turned DC2 back on and immediately people are telling me it is running up to speed. (still confused about Office 2000 working though).
With DC2 up and running, what do you think my next course of action is? Will demoting it delete the SRV records as well...
Ok, my new PDCe (10.0.0.17) was pointing to the old PDCe (10.0.0.15). I now have the new one pointing only at 10.0.0.17 and the old pointing prefered to 10.0.0.17 and alternate to 10.0.0.15. Some clients are set to obtain DNS automatically and some are static. Problem continues with both and...
