    Power requirement question

Hi All, In attempting to ascertain the differences in power requirements / consumption between a p680 and a p520, if I am reading it right, there isn't much if any difference. Even though the p680 is massive in size compared to the p520. The official doc reads: p680: 200 - 245 volts AC p520...

    Making sense of rPerf nums..

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I gathered that the numbers were respective to the CPU's listed, but again, just needed this confirming. So as my original process confirmed, doing the math on the total Mhz for the boxes is equivalent to the rperf number? Thanks again

    Making sense of rPerf nums..

Hi there, thanks for your responses. I have already checked out the links provided and they are where I got some of my initial information. I don't know if it exists... but, is there a document that says:- p520 x4(P5) rperf = xxxx p680 x24(P4) rperf = xxxx (I know one of these links proves...

How to do fresh install w/new drives?

Hi, we had this problem on a p520. The version of AIX was too low, and did not have the SSA functionality. Upgraded the version of AIX (5.3 in this case), and we could see the SSA Disks. What version of AIX are you at? Thanks

What would be the best way to record port logins...

Hi there, lsof doesn't appear to exist on my servers. So there is no logfile that records this..? I'm not aware of one myself. All incoming connections from applications will be on "TCP"? I'm not showing any on uppercase TCP, but plenty on lowercase "tcp"? Thanks

What would be the best way to record port logins...

...for example, when an application accessed the AIX Server over a specific port. I can currently use netstat -a to list connections. Is there a better way? Also, is this information written to a logfile anyway, like wtmp records logins? Many thanks

    Questions about RDAC & DS4*

Hi there, I have recently done some work on this, but using Windoze Servers connecting to a DS4700. The RDAC is always needed on the 4000 Series for multipathing, as you may already be aware. I have zoned one HBA to controller a and another to controller b, seeing 1 port each. This seems to...

SAN F20 Fibre Card Speed... How to find?

Well.. the engineer was onsite to fix something else on this piece of "kit"... so I took the opportunity to ask. He did now know the speed or how to find it out. It was raised with IBM, who informed us on the speed, but not how they acquired the information.

SAN F20 Fibre Card Speed... How to find?

Hello again, thanks for all your help and this link. It appears the actual card speed is a well kept secret, as there is no reference to it in the document. It simply states, "Up to 16 Fibre Channel Ports". It does however state that ESS Expert allows the "Tracking of capacity information and...

SAN F20 Fibre Card Speed... How to find?

Hi, they are SC, but the F20 does support 2GB Cards. So if they are SC it will be definately be operating at 2GB/s? And yes, very dated, we have the DS Series which I much prefer, and have a bit more confidence in... ;-> Thanks again for your response

SAN F20 Fibre Card Speed... How to find?

Yep, good point, but the plan is to upgrade the fabric to 4GB Switches, and I would like to see if we will gain a speed increase in SAN Disk access when this is done. If we only have 1GB Cards in the F20, we will need to look at upgrading this, but if it is 2GB, we will get the benefit when the...

SAN F20 Fibre Card Speed... How to find?

Hi there, thanks for your response. The switch is an old 1GB Switch, so if my F20 does have a 2GB card, it won't show. The switch is just one evolutionary step above the old two cups and a string. The F20 physically / visibly has nothing labeled, like speeds etc.. when I look at the HBA's...

SAN F20 Fibre Card Speed... How to find?

Hi All, how do I find out how fast my F20 HBA's are which connect to the switch via Fibre? I know the F20 supports up to 2GB Cards, but I cannot see anything indicating this physically on the cards. Is there a way to find this out using ESS Specialist? (Which incidentally, isn't all that...

    XDMCP Question

From reading up, it would appear that I need to install CDE for AIX. How do I find which CD this resides on? Thanks

    XDMCP Question

Hi All, I have installed exceed and when I run an XDMCP Broadcast, my servers are not picked up. Can anyone advise how I can get my server(s) to broadcast the XDMCP protocol and to allow me to login via Xwindow session using Exceed. Many thanks
