OK, just a quick update on this:
I finally figured out what the problem was.
By tracing the IP-packets from the Set all the way in and out
of each switch on the way from the Set to the SS, I found that
the packets stopped in the last switch (where the SS, CS etc
are connected together and...
Hi.
Yes I'm 110% sure of the IP address, and as stated in my 1.post,
I can ping the SS from the set.
I have set up several sets, and it's been the same for all
sets, they fail on the local LAN, but works fine when sent out to a
user on another site, and registering on the same SS.
I don't run...
Regarding "Port problem"
It uses port 4100 both for WAN(when it works), and LAN(when it fails).
At least thats whats defined on both the sets and on the SS.
Yes LAN = TLAN
1120set------Router------Switch------TLANswitch------SS = works
1120set------Switch------TLANswitch------SS = dosn't...
Hi, I have this strange problem when trying to set up new IP sets.
If I try to connect them to the same LAN as the SS is on,
it gets all the IP-setup it needs from the DHCP-server, and I put
in the IP-address of the SS manualy.
The set will then reboot and try to connect to the SS, but fails...
Yes there are Linux distroes suited for old hardware.
DamnSmallLinux: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/
"Minimum Requirements for DSL with X-Window:
i486
24 MB RAM "
TinyCore: http://www.tinycorelinux.com/welcome.html
Requirements:
"An absolute minimum of RAM is 48mb.
TC won't boot with...
Theres not one "better" Linux distro for beginners better than the other.
Theyr more or less the same,
so Mint is as good choice as any other.
Mint is based on Ubuntu, so most of the Ubuntu documentation apply:

Hi anybody know if it's possible to connect one
of these old shelfs to the new G6 servers?
I know there are HBA's,
but we need hardware RAID-controller that connects to
these old SCSI units.
Can't seem to find any.
There's no spesial version of Fedora for a server,
so download the latest from the Fedora Project site:
http://fedoraproject.org/get-fedora
The only thing I can add is that Fedora is mainly a desktop distro,
(with GUI and lots of apps), cause you can use it as a serverOS.
It's just not spesialy...
I would advice against the "old distro for old hardware" idea.
You'll want a new distro with a small footprint rather.
This gives you good hardware support and up to date software.
Choose a lightweight WM to match your machines specs.
Why not try a distro chooser...
unless there is a way to copy bit bit without checking anything"
In Linux you can use the DD command to copy bit-by-bit
a file, drive etc to some other file or media.
dd if=/dev/fd0 of=diskimage.binwould copy a diskette into a file named diskimage.bin.
Then you'd replase the floppy with a blank...
Red hat will be for company use, for us to install at other companies."
Shouldnt you be RH Certified to do this?
"What version would I need for testing on a PC for company use? I presume we have to pay for this aswell?"
CentOs as I ponited out if free, you can use it for testing.

Just a couple of shots in the dark...
Have You made the script executable ( chmod +x boot.backups ) ?
Are You shure your system is ready to run the backupscript
as early in the startup as at S15?
As for the system specs for a PC to put this on:
You should be able to install it on anything above
a PIII and 512MB RAM, but I would recommend a minimum
of 1GHz CPU and 1GB RAM.
HTH
Just to clarify a little:
Fedora Core is not a company owned by RedHat, it's
a community driven distro supported by RedHat.
The Core part of the Fedora Core name was dropped a couple
of years ago, so it's now just called Fedora.
Fedora 11 is due to be released in May this year...
Can You ping the sites that Firefox cant show (by name, like:
ping www.sometroubledsite.com)?
Do you have DNS-server(s) configured?
Are you behind a Proxy maby? that could explain it....
Ahh, maby on to something there....
DN 12341 only on Phone2, but the other 4 DN appears on 3 other sets.
These 4 sets are identical except for the DN on KEY 0
When I started to investigate this, I did an PRT DNB off the Phone2 DN on KEY 3,
and the first time it showed up as MARP on 2 out of the...
