If I'm thinking right (been up all night) the rundll is a system file ..... use a startup disk and from the A: prompt type the following; A:>sys C: <enter> this will restore the system files for you ....
Something you might try is reinstalling the win98 USB drivers ..... this is something that gets overlooked as a lot of people assume that they are always there .... the program has been known to drop them for no reason that I can find.
Have this problem with older AT type mobo's and usually wind up repairing the keyboard plug in on the board .... lot of hassle but saves on money .... hope the problem is as simple as that ...
Composer ... do a search for the maxtor low level format program .... don't remember where mine came from but it is indespensable ..... if you think the hard drive is going bad I would recommend a program called spinrite5 from grc.com, it's a little expensive but well worth every penny .. hope...
