    Uninvited Internet explorer loading at startup

    Internet explorer has started loading "something" each time I boot my computer. The short cut is not in my startup folder. Also ads for Microsoft pop up from time to time, even when I am not using the browser. Can I turn both these things off!!!!! Please help!!!! Rod
