Hello,
We have a Windows Server 2008/Exchange 2007 environment. Recently, management has requested that we change the display order or our users names from First Name Last Name to Last Name, First Name.
Does anyone know how we can do this global for all users and going forward, for any new...
Hello all,
I have a database table that has about 400 or so URLs in it.
I have to change part of the string that makes up the URL.
Here is an existing URL string:
file://server1/share/file
I need to change this to:
file://server2/share/file
Anyone know how I can do this quickly using...
Ok - I just figured it out. Really, this is unbelievable, but I know this can help many others out there, so here is the fix:
It turns out it's related to an improperly unloaded user hive. Even if you reboot the PC several times, it doesn't necessarly clean up this problem. So you have two...
Hello all,
I'm having major difficulty getting moveuser.exe to work for me. Here is some background:
We have two domains. One is the older Win2K3 domain and the other is the new Win2K8 domain. All workstations are WinXP SP3.
I've already created new userids in the new domain. I simply...
Ok - this is how you do it:
Share Permissions: 'Everyone' has Change & Read rights.
Security Permissions: Do not inherit from parent but copy. Apply permissions as stated above.
NOW it works!
Ok I figured out a way to do this - this will hopefully be useful to others:
At the root folder (D:\Users)
Go to its properties page, Security Tab & click on Advanced.
Now click on Edit and uncheck "Include inheritable permissions ...". Make sure you select "Copy" when prompted.
Now, within...
Hi baddos,
Yes, it's for a home drive. I would agree with you normally, except in this particular case, all the users do need to be able to list the contents because of some cross sharing.
I guess what I will have to do is provide users with List rights and then remove it when I or AD creates...
Hello all,
I need a bit of help setting up permissions on a share. The share is going to host all my users user-folders. The directory structure would look like this:
D:\Users <- root
\Users\jsmith
\Users\jdoe
\Users\etc ..
I want the default permissions to be such that a user can list...
Hello all - I'm very new to web development so please forgive any tech mistakes I might be making ahead of time.
I have a program that writes an image file to disk every 5 secs. It's the same image file. So for example, the file image1.jpg is overwritten every five seconds with new data.
I...
Hey guys - thanks for the responses. So, after taking Super's suggestion I started to just pull my hair out further.
Everything seemed to be just fine - I was getting error messages in the logs but they were along the lines of null communication with the ISP.
I then decided to just change...
Hello all,
I have Verizon FIOS in my house. I am playing around with my PIX-506E, trying to get it to work with the FIOS connection. I know FIOS uses PPPoE. I have the correct username & password - and have verified this by setting up a Linksys Router (and getting online, etc).
On the PIX...
Ok, so I think I have locked down a configuration using routed VLANs...to answer your question Chip.
Basically, what I'll do is have the ISP connect to the ASA device and the ASA device connect to a single inside VLAN.
The default route on the vlan will be to the ASA interface IP.
The default...
Burtsbees - correct, one port will go into switch 1 and the other port will go into switch 2.
Also correct regarding the ASAs - we do have the failover cable.
Anyone else have any thoughts? Perhaps we missed something here?
Hello,
I'm in the process of designing a network that will provide full redundancy from the server to the ISP. I've brought together, what I think, are the ideal Cisco components for the job, along with various VLANs, etc.
Can you all review to see if I have any holes in my design?
I've...
