Hi,
I have set up a Samba server (2.2.3) on a Sun Solaris 8 server. From the PC client, I can connect and access most files on the Unix filesystem. However, "symbolic link" files do not show up? Any idea if there's a parameter I can set so I can see and access soft link files...

Hi,
Is there a way to NFS mount a remote PC's CDROM on a Unix machine? I tried to do:
$mount -F nfs <pc hostname>:/R /pc-cdrom
(where R is the sharename of the cdrom device)
and it gave me an error message "RPC:Rpcbind failure - RPC:Unable to receive nfs mount"
Thanks.

Why is it that the mountd and nfsd processes are not started automatically on my Linux server? I am able to start them manually by running the commands: rpc.montd and rpc.nfsd. My network is up and working fine. The only strange thing I see is /etc/sysconfig/network set the parameter...
I spent a day trying to get the rpm.html to work but it did not. I think for the most part I was ok, except for I don't know which is the right packet to install from the RHlinux-2.4.3 folder. Maybe you can help straighten me out here. What I did was
download and install the new 'xfsprogs'...

I have recently install REdHat Linux 7.1 (kernel version 2.4.2) on a compaq 6000 server. We have a need to support largefile (file > 2GB). I have been looking at the SGI'xfs file system. Is there an .rpm out there for xfs that will work with kernel 2.4.2?
I have downloaded and...
Well, I manually copy the cpqarray.o and other drivers module over and able to run mkinitrd. I am able to move forward to create and reload the new lilo.conf file. (Note: I have re-link /boot/vmlinuz, /boot/System.map to point to the 2.4.13 version).
I reboot the server and select the new...

2) Run

Hi,
If anyone has ever installed the Linux LVM (by sistina) on a red hat linux (v7.1), kernel version 2.4.2-2, please shed some light on how I can "patch the kernel". My problem is after untarring the lvm_1.0.1-rc4.tar file, and trying to run ./configure, the system came back with an...
