The Analysis Server can be installed by itself, that is, it didn´t need the SQL Server 2000 to be installed. So I think that you can install the Analysis Server in a machine that already has the sql server 7.0 running. I didn´t tried yet, but I´m not seeing what could going wrong...

I made this trasition in a company I work and everything went smoothly. the only thing I need to do was:
- Make backups of the OLAP Databases.
- Install the servers
- Restore the backups
In that process even the roles worked fine. So I don´t think that anyone of you will...

Did you already install the ADO package in the machine you're trying to use the pivot table service? Sometimes this could be the problem. So if you already had installed it, try again with a newer version.

I'd experienced this problem too... I think that other guys replied the answer to the forum already, but... The problem is that you have to define a Role on the OLAP Manager wich contains the users you want to access the OLAP Cube, and after that, connect that role with your cube...
