Hi Folks,
I'm stumped again... user calls me says his
icons are missing from his desktop (icons = actions we
use to initiate different pieces of software).
I go and look; his desktop is completely black, there
are no icons on it , only the CDE taskbar is still showing,

Hi folks!

I'm testing Samba as a solution to let WXP boxes get
to my (normally NFS) shares on my solaris server.
Does anyone have experience with say 15 clients pulling
large amounts of files...
Hi folks.
I am completely baffled.
I've got about thirty client computers W98, W2K running IE6
proxying through a W2K box running Sambar Server.
When the clients start up IE, it pops right up to their
home page; when they navigate off the home page
it fails to connect for two or three minutes...
this is going to be windows XP/2000 accessing files on
a novell server....
so what you are saying is this is only good if the other
applications that are accessing the file have to use flock - ruh roh. Probably not... I'll see in the next week whether or not this will work....
thanks for the...
Hi folks,
I'm pretty much a novice at perl.
I'd like to know if there is way to tell
if a file is open in perl.
I'm getting ready to write some file management
scripts and this would come in awfully handy.
I can't find anything that mentions this in any
documentation.... anyone here got any...

anyone have any idea about:
Excel 2000 insane scrolling speed when selecting

a large spreadsheet, excel scrolls so rapidly (when you drag the cursor off...

I have 90% of my users using eudora w/imail - no problems.
your server configuration sounds like overkill -
I am web hosting / running Imail /proxy serving the internet on a 1ghz/512 MB dell dimension PC and not
breaking a sweat.
just my pennies on your thoughts.

dangit.
i'd like to avoid a re-install if at all possible.

make a mirrored nw partition, copy the data over
from one of the original partition, (Or retreieve from
tape), then rename the original partition and change the name of the new partition to...
I'm running imail on w2k professional - runs great!
I point all the internal people (desktops) to the
internal address for it, they don't even have to
go outside the firewall to get their mail.
only 60 users - runs like a bat out of hell on a
1ghz /512mb box.

2. set up metadb on partition 1 (c0t0d0)
3. create...

my sambar web server cannot find any of my cgi scripts -
my cgi directory is set to /cgi-bin/, cgi-bin is a directory
under sambar50, perl is installed and I can execute the
perl scripts in a command windows - yet when my pages try
to post to...

Hi folks,
I've got an HP-UX server; I've got an IMAP/SMTP/POP3 server.
I'd like to have users on the HP-UX read mail off my IMAP/SMTP/POP3 server, jsut like my Solaris users are able to; just telling the mail client the name of the server and
being done with it. However, the HP-UX cde mail...
