    Why did my .exe icons now have .lnk?

    Can anyone help me track down the cause and fix for my icons all showing .lnk instead of .exe? I'm running Windows XP and I think it has something to do with Ad-aware which I am also running. I can get on the web with IE, but nothing else seems to work properly. Thanks
