Thanks. How about DP to VGA and HDMI to VGA? I notice there are adaptors on Ebay.

    AMD Radeon 6850, 2nd monitor

Just checked the XFX page you mention. Did you notice: Display Output HDMI Ready:Y Max Supported Resolution (ANALOG):2048 x 1536 Max Supported Resolution (DIGITAL):2560 x 1600 Output - Display Port:1 Output - DL-DVI:1 Output - HDMI:1 Output - SL-DVI:1 Dual link Support:Y Does that mean the 2...

    AMD Radeon 6850, 2nd monitor

Thanks for the tips. I've tried installing the mystery devices, but Windows cannot find the drivers for them online, so refuses. I've deactivated them; it seems to make no difference. I have VGA-DVI-I adapters for both monitors. I've been into Windows display properties to activate the 2nd...

    AMD Radeon 6850, 2nd monitor

I dont think that's the same one. It has 2 fans, not 1, and the ports look different. Mine's part no is HD-685X-ZNFC. Re the devices: do I need to install or delete them? As far as I know everything works fine.

    AMD Radeon 6850, 2nd monitor

Thanks. I have the latest drivers. Device Manager shows a ? against Other Devices, and expanding it lists PCI Device, PCI Memory Controller, SM Bus Controller & Unknown Device all with ?! against them. (Not sure what they all represent..) The card is an XFX Radeon HD 6850, model no HD-685X-ZN...

    AMD Radeon 6850, 2nd monitor

I'm trying to get a 2nd monitor connected to my AMD Radeon 6850. It has 2 DVI ports, but only the first one will register a monitor. I've tried all combinations of cables and monitors and everything works on port 1 but nothing on port 2. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tim

    Status bar with Firefox

Thanks. It seems Firefox also overrides my top and left values, and wont allow the created window to be greater than the viewable screen area. Is there no way around this? I dont see why Firefox insists programmers should be told what to do. Tim

    Parent window scrolling

That seems to work fine. Thanks Dan.

    Status bar with Firefox

Hi, I am opening a new window with pagewin=window.open('pagewin.htm','pagewin', 'top=10,left=330,width=520,height=660,toolbar=0, status=0,scrollbars=0,menubar=0,resizable=0'); However Firefox still creates the window with a status bar and the little arrow-head to allow it to be resized by...

    Parent window scrolling

Hi, I have a window, which creates a pop-up window to display some pages of text. For alignment reasons the main window scrolls down 80px whilst the pop-up window is there. It is possible to page through the text in the pop-up, no problem. But when the pop-up is closed I want the main window to...

    Chkdsk errors

It looks like the RAM is the problem. I have 1gb - 2 x 512mb, one newer than the other, and it is only since I added the 2nd that the errors started. I ran the windiag test with both DIMMS in and 1st pass gave an error, although the 2nd and 3rd didnt... I then tried with the 2 DIMMS individually...

    Chkdsk errors

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them and let you know. I have already tried system restore, but Windows will not complete the restore - I have had chkdsk errors in one of the restore files itself, so that may be why. Timftse.

    Chkdsk errors

Hi, I have a problem with repeated chkdsk errors on my PC. The corruption is minor - often the Startup menu items (I looked in the found001 folder where the orphaned links /files are put, and rebuilt the menu, which has since got corrupted again). Chkdsk often runs on start-up, and either finds...
