The OS is Vista. The laptop is missed up. It won't reboot (stuck in reboot loop). I tried to use the recovery CD (privided by Toshiba) to go back to factory install. I set it to boot from CD. It looks like it did reboot from the CD. Then the screen went blank. I started to get worried that the...
I would like to learn Visual Studio. What is the best wway to go about it? Where do I start
I am an Energy Engineer. I did some asp web programming to create dynamics energy reports, etc. Now I realized that I like programming. So I would like to learn Visual Studio (I guess both web and...
As I stated, I used the Symantec removal tool and it said it could not find the virus. I think I found the source machine. I basically stopped the "task scheduler" service (it was set to auto). That machine also had a relativly easy to guess local account, so I changed it to a more complex password.
I have one xp machine and one 2003 server that keep getting attacked by this virus. The rest of the machines I have are apparently OK. Norton virus definitions are all up to date, so Norton real-time is able to intercept it and delete it. The problem is that it keeps trying every some time...
I need to prepair a tutorial for some co-workers here at work. I would like to capture the video from the computer screen, and the voice from the microphone. Which software do you recommend? Is there free sharware that can accommlish this task? Thanks
ArizonaGeek,
At work, I have about 30 workstations and 5 servers. And I am still Using Ghost 2003. Like you said, I have a network boot disk. I store the images on a shared netwrk drive. This method (using netowrk boot disks) works fine.
What I am trying to do now is differnt. I was trying to...
I was trying to use Norton Ghost from within windows, but it keeps hanging after it reboots the machine into PC-Dos. You can't even start windows (I had to use and XP quick boot CD to recover and delete the partition that ghost created on the fly).I know there is Ghost 14 now, but I don't know...

What comm software do you recommend to do the sniffing?. Something like "hyperterminal" maybe?
Also given the fact that you don't know the comm protocol yet, how do you pull data from the controller (if it's only set to respond to requests).
It's like walking toward a stranger, where you...
Thank you for the info. Very nice explaination of the thoery. I appreciate that.I need to get a better handle of the hands-on, however.
My immediate goal is to start "playing" with serial comm.
My ultimate goal is to be able to write communication drivers (maybe a long shot!).
Ok. Lets say I...
I have an ME degree, and I am working in the automation inudstry. Often I find myself trying to solve networking problems, mostly serial communications (RS232, RS485). This is where I realize that I lack the in-depth understanding of the subject.
Although it is not the primary focus of my job, I...

The client machine will start IE and go to a URL. The user will then be prompted to enter user name and password for remote desktop login (more like windows...
I have a server running under an admin account, call it "admin1".
If I use RDC on my laptop to connect remotely, and I log on with another admin account, say "admin2". Will this have any impact on the applications currently running under the "admin1" profile? thanks
