You can change any measurement on the PC by right clicking on the ruler on either the horizontal or vertical rulers. You may also use any combination of units. Say pixels across the top for a web page and inches down the page for reference so it will stay printed on one sheet of paper.

If you are a designer and want to save time, I would say YES! Only if your system will handle it. Don't bother with Bridge if you have a slower machine. just bogs down and crawls. If you work with panaromics, or raw it is a must.
RE: Font Issue.... Each font has a "family" each style is a seperate font. When you are in word or open office, when you click on bold it applies a "faux" or "fake" bold. Only when you have the complete font family installed in your OS then and only then will you be able to use it.
