Importing from excel to MSP

Importing from Excel but need backward scheduling from finish date
When importing from excel the only date I have used is for the main project under teh finish column. I tell Project to schedule from the finish date but it does not save that setting under the project information dialogue box. I beleive because of the wizard ignores it during the import.
