    I have followed pechenegs instructions - the issue still remains - I have the initial hijackthis log file (before following the instructions) and another after following the instructions. I also have a txt file of the html file that is hijacking the desktop. Can't see how to post attachments...

    After running Norman Genfix (8 viruses removed) and most recent Adaware SE (39 Critical objects), the desktop remains white and some icons can't be seen (transparent). Ran Smitfraud, to no effect. Right clicking desktop/properties shows this (instead of display properties)...
