    Possible hard drive failure?

When I got back from college today I was told the computer had locked up during the day and nobody knew how to fix it. See, I'm kinda the tech guy here. What was happening is: - There was a remnant of web page freezed in the middle of the screen, but I could bring it down using the task...

    DDR400 ram running at 333mhz!

I did some benchmarks: 3DMark05: 512MB ddr400: 1100 1024MB ddr333: 1098 Not a big deal, you might think. Yeah, but I was rather expecting an amelioration of performance by adding more RAM, certainly not a degradation, even if it's insignificant.

    DDR400 ram running at 333mhz!

Each stick can run at 400mhz individually, but when they are used together they can only run at 333mhz. The memory I just added is listed in the manual, but the old one is not.

    DDR400 ram running at 333mhz!

Since I added a second 512MB stick of ddr400 ram on my Asus P4S800 motherboard, my ram is running at 333mhz instead of 400mhz. This is pretty bad considering my processor's FSB is 800mhz. I tried to edit that in the bios but forcing 400mhz prevented the system from even POSTing. I was lucky I...

I reverted back to Auto, which is ddr333, and it effectively fixed my problem. (Well, the biggest one) Thanks for the help!

Computer cannot start; hard drive suspected

I sincerely hope I can fix the problem that way! (I am at work right now so it'll be in a couple hours) Is there any reason ddr400 ram on a ddr400 motherboard wouldn't want to run at 400mhz?

WinXP Pro SP2 C:\ boot issue

As long as you don't format the hard drive, or it doesn't break, your data is safe; you can always plug that hard drive in an already functional computer and backup your data. Did you try reinstalling Windows by using the Windows cd-rom? If it doesn't want to boot from cd, then you need to...

Computer cannot start; hard drive suspected

Yesterday, after realizing my ddr400 ram on my ddr400-able ASUS motherboard was actually running at ddr333, I restarted and went into the bios to change it. The option was set on "Auto"; I set it to "400mhz". Then I hit F10 - Save and exit. Then all input/output devices (monitor, keyboard...
