Exchange 2003 and 2010 coexisting - messaging loop

I thought I had replied to this already, but it is not showing in the forum, so here goes again... First off, thanks very much sniper for your response and attention to this. - I checked the accepted domains. My domain is there and listed as authoritative. The weird thing is, I have two other...

Exchange 2003 and 2010 coexisting - messaging loop

Hi all. I have had an Exchange 2003 SP2 box on my network for several years, and recently introduced a 2010 Exchange server. Right now I have them both up and running, and have moved 3 users to the new Exchange server. This worked just fine for a week and a half, but now I have a rather annoying...

Exchange 2007 with Windows 2008 and Windows 2003 AD controller

Making the 2003 AD controller a GC did fix my problem. Thanks much for your help on this one guys.

Exchange 2007 with Windows 2008 and Windows 2003 AD controller

Well that makes a ton of sense. I will make the Windows 2003 DC a GC and see if that fixes my issue. Thanks!

Exchange 2007 with Windows 2008 and Windows 2003 AD controller

Hi all. Here's my situation. I installed Exchange 2007 on a Windows 2008 x64 stand alone server, which is part of a Windows 2008 domain. After the fact, I realized I needed another AD controller and normally I would have went with another Windows 2008 box. In this case, however, I needed to have...

MX records / priority / rejected messages

I appreciate the comments guys. I wondered if there was a difference between a server not responding, as opposed to rejecting a message when it comes to MX records. You helped to clear that up for me. As for elgradeperro's comment, I don't know how that would work. What I'm trying to get away...

MX records / priority / rejected messages

OK here's my situation. I am supporting a client that currently uses 14 Godaddy POP accounts for email. This client recently purchased an SBS 2003 server, so I planned on having mail directed to their new Exchange server. I set up a new MX record, ptr record for the exchange IP address, etc. All...

    WPAD woes

Hi all. I am at wits end trying to get WPAD working correctly on my network. I have an ISA 2004 server (SP2) which is acting strictly as a web proxy/cache server. It is a unihomed machine. This machine is also acting as our content filter device. It is running a program called Smart Filter for...

    Forwarded emails sporadic

Yep that's the way I do it, and I've never had a problem. Are the accounts you are forwarding to AOL accounts? AOL is notorious for blacklisting various domains. Have you just tried sending test messages to the contacts you set up to see how it works in a non-forward situation?

    Two calendars in public folders

I agree on dumping the public folder calendars. They are a big pain in the rear. We have them and they have been nothing but a nuisance.

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

I agree with you completely on separating the two. I inherited this configuration. I'm a big believer in having an exchange server do just that..be an exchange server and nothing else. Honestly though, this config has worked quite well for the most part. I'm baffled by this latest problem, but...

    Forwarded emails sporadic

Did you set up the forwarding via a rule, or did you set it up through the "exchange general" tab in ADUC (via Delivery Options)? I have had issues when trying to do forwarding via rules, but I have not had a problem when going through ADUC.

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

It is running directly on my mail server. With that being the case I don't see how there is any way email can avoid being scanned by Ninja.

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

We have two MX records. One of them goes through our old firewall (a Sonicwall device), which then forwards via NAT to our exchange server. The other MX record points to our new firewall (checkpoint) and then forwards via NAT to our exchange server. The sonicwall device is disable at the moment...

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

Here's a copy of a header from a spam message that slipped through. Microsoft Mail Internet Headers Version 2.0 Received: from SEATTLE.mydomain.com ([10.10.1.3]) by Server3.mydomain.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.1830); Wed, 23 May 2007 11:38:41 -0700 Return-Path...

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

Well if you are suggesting that the public folders are excluded from scanning by Ninja, that is not the case. The public folders are indeed scanned by the Ninja product. The only requirement is that they are not hidden from the exchange address book (and in my case they are not hidden). As a...

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

Excellent thought, but wouldn't the internet header give that away? When I look at the header, the emails are coming from IP addresses outside my organization. Is it possible that an infected machine could fudge the header and make it appear to come from outside? I'm thinking that's not...

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

I agree that it's extremely odd...nevertheless that's exactly what is happening. For whatever reason these emails apparently avoid any kind of inspection by the Exchange server, or the spam software which is running on the exchange server. It's incredibly frustrating. I've poked around a bit...

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

Nick your message was apparently cut off. Can you repost when you have a moment? I'm still struggling with this problem and I could use some help. Thanks!

mail enabled public folders getting spammed

Hi all. OK here's my issue. I am running Exchange 2003 SP2. I use intelligent message filtering, recipient filtering, and I run Sunbelt Messaging Ninja (anti-spam product). Spam which is directed at user accounts is successfully blocked 99 percent of the time. We do have a few mail enabled...
