Thanks for command help. Regarding 1st question, I recieve zipped files, either on CD or thru Internet, thru my PC. After unzipping I then transfer to UNIx thru FTP. Wondering if other way to transfer besides FTP.
I have 1 AIX box that I communicate with only thru FTP from network. Is there better way?? NFS, SAMBA?? what do u all suggest for file management purposes. Also would u point me to sites that have in-depth info on how to activate/install/use your recommendation.

I installed router for my DSL, and tinkering with SMITTY i enabled DHCP, now i get error "DT messaging could not be started--please check etc/hosts". I want to disable DHCP, I dont need it. Or, would problem be caused by other??.
