    Some Packages Fail

Hello Everyone, I'm trying to install a few updates to my Windows 2000 SP4 clients (specifically KB911280-v2, KB917159, KB917537). All of the other updates have installed fine. I've tried copying the command to a dos prompt and it installs fine. I'm installing with the /quiet /passive and...

    No inbound traffic

We have a Cisco 506E VPN and 2620 Router. A remote traceroute is stopping at the serial interface for the router. It has been working fine with the configuration for over a year and no changes were made. Outgoing and internal traffic works fine. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Two Programs in One Package = Problem?

I figured out my problem. I had seen the switches for one update, and figured they were universal. However some have the /passive and some have -u, /norestart as opposed to -z, etc. That's why my programs were failing with a 1603 error code. Is there a logical reason that they all don't have...

Two Programs in One Package = Problem?

What is the best way to distribute multiple .exe's? Should I be making a package with multiple programs? or should I be making an .msi with multiple .exe's in it? I'm trying to advertise about 40 updates for Win2000 SP4.

Two Programs in One Package = Problem?

Anyone know why my programs fail when there are more than one program in a package? I tried issuing the same program with the same settings in its own unique package and it worked fine. Is this a setting/requirement within SMS 2003? Just wondering as I am still relatively new to this. Thanks...

    Change Office 2000 Install Path

Hello everyone, I am handling a 50+ workstation network. The office installs have originated from CD's, and various network locations. Now I am trying to deploy the SR-1 update via sms 2003, but SR-1 needs the installation source to be mounted in order for setup to complete. Is there a way I...

    Deploy Office 2000 SR-1

Does anyone know how I'd go about deploying the Office 2000 SR-1 Update? I'd like to do it silently, and I've heard from various sources that the original cd is required. If anyone has had experience with this please let me know how you did it. Thanks

    Program for advertisement failed

yeah I did, thanks again. I am also trying to learn the inner workings of the SQL statements, since I'm relatively new to it. I've been using the dropdown menus but I feel like to really gain experience with the language (to possibly persue jobs that require SQL experience) I should be able to...

    Program for advertisement failed

Nevermind, I just found out that the malicious software removal tool doesn't install. On to my next question.. is there a way to make the "Assigned Program About to Run" message not appear? Is that a service I have to disable on each individual system? I'd rather this be as invisible as...

    Program for advertisement failed

The package is the ms malicious software removal tool. I'm just doing it as a test. Anyone know how to check if it's installed in Win 2000? Sorry for the semi-unrelated question, but I need to be sure that these updates are going through.. The advertisement status says that they are, but it...

    Program for advertisement failed

Hello all, When I sent out my first advertised package, everything went well, however it seems as though 3 of the 40 computers I sent out the advertisements to didn't succeed. I'm getting this as a message in the status viewer The program for advertisement "USA20006" failed ("USA00004" -...

Some systems don't get client install

Ok I figured out that most of these computers are still on AD but have either been moved, renamed, or off. I have a question though. Is there an easy way to check what systems have what client? I'm trying to figure out what service pack was installed on which system. I found where the version...

Some systems don't get client install

Would there be any reason that some systems would be assigned to the site but not have a site code? Some of the systems (about 15) still don't have the client installed. Site Code = Blank Client = No Assigned = Yes All of these are Win 2000, there is one system with XP that isn't even...

    Renaming Computers Effect on SMS

I am about to go around our network and do some preventative maintenance. One of the tasks requires me to rename the computers to the first initial and last name of the current employee (high turnover rate ;) ). Anyway, will this have a negative effect on SMS now that I finally got it up and...

Some systems don't get client install

Wow thanks for all your help! Clearly I'm very new at this and you have been able to help me a lot. All of my systems are now assigned and it looks as if the clients are being installed. I still need to get that guide from you though. You sent me an email saying you would send it but it...

Some systems don't get client install

OK, I see what you're talking about in the table under the assigned column. Actually all of the ones that didn't get a client also didn't get assigned. How do I go about fixing that?

Some systems don't get client install

Most of these systems are windows 2000 Professional. We have a 3 floor building. It seems as though the physical location of the machines doesn't matter though because the machines that don't get the client are scattered about. We don't generally use any software firewalls either. I'm using...

Some systems don't get client install

Upon reinstalling the sms server, I've noticed that some of the systems on the network have installed the client, but some haven't. The admin account has sufficient privileges, and all of the machines have file/print sharing on. I have a windows 2000 machine right next to me that's not getting...
