Here's my network setup:
- Cisco 1811
- FastEthernet0 --> WAN
- FastEthernet1 --> LAN
- NAT shares the internet with my LAN
I've been trying to get my IPS configured properly, but as soon as I enable it on any interface, I notice dramatic loss in speed. I can easily download at 500KB/s without...
Well, I don't "officially" have a DNS server onsite. But, what I do is get my router to relay the DNS requests. I did this by using the "IP dns server spoofing" command.
Can I still prevent reverse DNS lookups?
Is there a way to block "reverse" DNS lookups while still allowing "foward" DNS lookups?
"Forward" DNS Lookup: returns the IP given a domain name (allow this)
"Reverse" DNS Lookup: returns the domain name given an IP (don't allow this!)
It's simply because I provide internet service to some...
Okay,
I checked things out. Turns out there was never a default route specified. Would the router route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 to FastEthernet0 by default if nothing was specified? (I'm using simple NAT on FE1). Could the arp overflow problem still occur without a default route specified?
I added...
Hi Joamon, I think you are exactly right. I looked on cisco's site and found the following about ARP cache tables:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk365/technologies_tech_note09186a00800ef7b2.shtml
I had a thorough read over it, but wasn't able to deduce the steps involved in implementing...
I've got a Cisco 1811.
Pretty Simple Set. A single Cable connection WAN feeding a LAN of about 60 clients using NAT. For some strange reason, after about every 2-3 days, the router lockups up, everyone's internet stops working, and the WAN's throughput goes to 0 (nothing gets through). When...
After doing a bit more digging, I've realized that my ISP's do not support BGP. They are standard cable and DSL connections.
Can anyone help me solve this design issue please??
Hi KiscoKid,
Thanks for your reply. I contact both ISPs, and they told me they both support BGP. They told me BGP operates on UDP port 179, and that they do not block that port. I hope that helps.
Thanks
I'd like to set my network up in the following way:
ISP#1: Cable @ 6Mbps
ISP#2: DSL @ 3Mbps
Router: Cisco 1811 (with dual WAN FE ports)
I'd like to connect both ISP connections to my one router. I'd then like the router to load balance these connections and share the internet to my clients...
