CCNA is really easy. Just a single test. Get a book and read it (Sybex book is best) and a set of practice questions (Exampasser is best) and you'll know exactly the information on the test, even many of the questions. That easy.
To get your CCNA, all you need to do is get some practice tests. The questions are very similar to what you'll see on the test - at least they were when I got mine and I used Exampasser's practice questions. Even better if you can get some hands-on experience, but you don't need it to pass.
I did switching only because the Cisco Press book for that test was available first. I really think it's a matter of taste. You have to do both anyway.
I think you'll like the Exampasser CCNP material. I like it so far better than CCNA.
I am finding the Cisco Press books to be invaluable. They stay pretty true to the tests and I use them all the time as reference guides.
So, read the book, get some hands-on, and take the Exampasser practice...
