Thanks for the response! When you installed BE, did you have it running without the agent at any point?
I checked with a vendor and they had said that you could do backup of the Exchange Info store without the granularity that the Agent provides.
I also verified this on an SBS 2003 server...
Is Backup Exec 12.5 Exchange-Aware out of the box(i.e. with NO Exchange Agent)?
Should I be able to see the information store without it?
It was my understanding this is the case and the Exchange Agent is only required if a granular backup/restore of the mailboxes is required.

Thanks Baddos.
I just discussed this with another person. He suggested pretty much the same thing but moving all normal user mailboxes to the new storage group and delegate that to the IT guy, instead. Saying it would be an easier time of delegating permissions to him vs. removing.

I think I over-generalized. Goal is to basically isolate executive emails to a senior IT person(s) only. At the moment all IT staff has full admin access to everything.
Would like to prevent any way for other IT staff to gain access to content within the executive email mailboxes. (even through...
Looking for a way to isolate the executives of a companies emails so that IT has no way of reading their emails.
Is the best way the split-permissions model?
Or is there a way to separate the executives into a storage group and then encrypt it?

I've been doing searches everywhere, but haven not found a similar issue.
POP3 connector works fine when there are no emails attached to the email. Once an email with an attachment (regardless of size) is ready for retrieval, the retrieval process fails for all email
Outlook clients on network...
We've also noticed that emails will get stuck when sending large attachments (> 1MB). Again, only Vista users. (I've setup the same user on an XP load w/ Outlook 2007 and no issue sending.

I think I have this issue isolated, but why it's doing it makes no sense...
After a migration from Exchange 2000 to 2007 (Manual .pst import). Emails seemed to work fine for a bit.
Now we're getting more and more occurrences come up where emails are getting stuck in the outbox.

The nat-traversal command showed up without an upgrade.
After looking at internal setup, my issue turned out being that a new vlan was created on a port/switch the ASA was connected to without the proper route entries.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys! Much appreciated.

thanks unclerico.
I entered the above command previously. In ASA 8.x, it accepts the command but doesn't seem to show in the running config (similar to the "sysopt connection permit-ipsec" command).
If you are talking about:
"access-list 100 extended permit ip 10.200.0.0 255.255.0.0 VLAN23...
Same issue as thread1598-1415862
But this is ASA 5505 version 8.0.
I can connect and ping the internal interface but nothing past it.
Can anybody provide some insight for me? Thanks.

Do you have a certificate setup for connection?
I was just having this issue (a bit more involved, however). Was only happening on Outlook 2007 clients.
- certificate name should be correct. Is OWA setup and working? Would show if the cert name didn't match.
- Check connection status (hold...
No doubt, that was the 2nd time an ISPs mismanage of IP addressing has caused issues.
Last time, the ISP provided already assigned IPs to another customer. For us, I couldn't test the VPN connectivity w/o it failing, for the other client I imagine their internet was going down.

I created a case with Microsoft on the login issue and everything was resolved (login issue and Outlook Anywhere). I'll post the steps later. There were a few steps that were made that didn't seem to be a requirement from the documentation and research I did online.
One of which was the...
HA! The IP that the ISP provided were failing at a certain hop, whereas another of theirs wasn't.
Thanks guys! The Telnetting from multiple locations helped a lot. I assumed too much when I didn't consider the ISP being at fault.

ok...on Friday users with Outlook 2007 on Vista were all getting log on issues.
I'm wondering if it's the OAB not configured correctly.
When a user connects to the OAB website (https://owa.domain.com/oab), what should they see? I get a login prompt then after 3 times, I get a failed login...
The login issue was the users not importing the certificate correctly. ugh...
Thanks Dave, that would probably be really helpful. I've contacted a Microsoft contact and waiting for them to get back to me.

Single exchange server acting as all roles.
Most emails going out. The ones not going out are giving the error:

I've tried telnetting to some of the failed sends and get the "...could not open connection to the...
