My experience with it is 2nd hand. The inventory is awful but the helpdesk is great. I know a couple companies who bought it just for the heldesk and use a different tool for the inventory- decaffrey

Zenworks Asset Management from Novell is a great tool for managing hardware and software inventory. Great web reporting interface and the best software recognition on the market. It's not open source, but if you already own the old Zenworks, your entitled to the Asset Inventory functionality...- decaffrey
