I have 100mg ethernet internet service. My router to this service via a 10/100/1000 mg electrical interface.
Should I use 100mg or 1000mg interface settings? Does it make any difference?
Are there any general rules related to bw to interface settings, other than the 10/100/1000?
Thank you.
I am understanding that for the Gigabit electrical or fiber interfaces to work, they need to
be configured differently. If that is correct? If my electrical interface operates, does that mean
that my fiber interface would not work. And vice versa, if my fiber connection operates
does that...
I am curious to how a router is able to forward
packets from 1 subnet to another. My guess is, it acts
like a repeater from 1 interface to another. I am not
asking about its function but how it accomplishes it.
Maybe a follow up question....how does a non ip
telephone system connect its...
I have ip sets and ipoffice(lan1) and vmpro
all to:192.168.42.1 =ipoffice, .2=vmPro, sets range 10-50(dhcp)
/24 bit mask. No gateway. They r connected to a Poe switch.
For admin from the customers desktop, and for voicemail to email
services I need to access the customers lan.
It is...
How to do conference call with analog telephone off Ipo.
With Internal twinning, do you see much advantage for
twinning over call forward. My example, digital set twinned to
analog. In twinned mode, the analog set reflected the msg
waiting status (suprised me).
Whats with firmware upgrade...
When dialing out, using Ars, it seems to take about
6-8 seconds before ringing is heard. Using analog loop start
trunks. Is there a way to speed this up? Is noticeably
slow. System is version 6.1
I am trying to learn spanning tree. Using Cisco Packet
Tracer with 3 switches and 2 hubs for a basic example.
All switch settings default.
Sw0 G1/0 + Sw1 G1/0 + Sw2 G1/0 all to hub 0
Sw0 G1/1 + Sw1 G1/1 + Sw2 G1/1 all to hub 1
According to my calculations, the wrong switch comes up the...
I have been told vlan tags are locally important
only. This seems counter intuitive to me. It seems like
if I send out packets tagged with vlan id of 1 that they
could be routed or sent to other switches vlan 1. And if
they were both not in the same subnet, they would not be able to...
I have read the dialer map command to be:
dialer map [protocol] [nx hop] [name] [dial string].
I am studying for CCNA test. I have read name should be
either remote_router_hostname or must match a username on
the remote router. Which should it be? Does it change by
configuration...
I am a rookie to routing.
I have an existing network with 140.1.2._ /24 address being used on all the devices.
All these devices are connected to a single switch.
I have a router to access the internet
I come in and install into this network a device with a private ip,192.168.22.34 /24
I plug...
I am trying to understand broadcasting.
With a layer 2 switch,set to default--like a hub. With subnet 1.1.1.X /24 connected to ports 1-12.
With subnet 2.2.2.x /24 connected to ports 13-24. I have an understanding that ip will not allow either
of the subnet's connections to connect. 1.1.1.x...
When setting up a ethernet switch and creating
vlans on it,do these vlan number have to match the
in use vlan numbers of the existing network? Or are
they just a local identifier to this switch?
IE-data network is using 2 vlans,15 for voip and
12 for general data. Do I need to make my...
I have some files that I periodically backup to an
external hard drive or media. How can I tell, which files
in a folder have changed. I mean to be able to tell without looking at each file? So I dont keep saving the
same files over and over, that have not changed.
When setting up a ethernet switch for voip and data.
Why would I need to make seperate vlans for each subnet,
ie-voice and data. Because tcpip will not allow the to
separate subnets to send data each other. With different subnets is there any need to worry about broadcast
collisions? Thank you.
What does adam do? I have interpretted that it is
some kind of scaled down active directory application. Please explain in simplest manner.
My experience, there is a Nortel application that I sometimes install. In the past,I would usually leave the
