Wow, great answer. You should be writing books dude!!! (hey, maybe you are?)
I know it was probably a simple question, however, I have only been using Linux for a couple weeks. You're answer shed a lot of light and re-enforces the Linux community looks after its own as well as newcommers.

Seems like a simple task, when verifying a package dependency in RPM manager I get the following:
"Found 0 source and 1 binary packages
Dependency Problem:
/bin/perl is needed by (application package)"
How dow I remedy this?
I am doing this as root on RH 7.1
I am not Linux...
Although you are looking for a sample of PAP configs, I would strongly suggest you go with CHAP. Remember, PAP sends passwords io clear text i.e. laas%#$%^%$(*^*$$^%$HERE_IS_MY_PASSWORD^%$^%$&^uyfgudwq. CHAP is far more secure. Here is the whole setup in 3 lines.
ROUTER1: (apply to...
Yes, if what you are trying to say is that you are simply leasing a private connection i.e T-1 from your provider. You can run P2P or Frame or.... It's you link, you can run whatever your hardware is capable of.

The only interfaces that can basically talk DSL are ATM Modules and DSL WIC's i.e. ADSL-WIC.
Been there tried that but... i couldn't get anywhere. It's kinda like ISDN in that DSL has specific hardware requirements unlike the numerous serial connections available.

Don
The spec for Coax DS3 w/BNC connection @ 45MBS is 150 Meters/500 Feet. If this distance is lower than what you need, you simply add repeaters. Keep in mind the 5/4/3 rule. In case you forgot it, or never cared to remember it like some of us it means:
The maximum number of segments is 5...
I had a chance to play with it... not appropriate for CCNP training. I specifically worked with the Switching (second version) and was not impressed by the labs, nor the amount of commands you are limited to.
One benifit however, is in the new version you can create your own topology (sort...
No error on Cisco's site. CCIP is a new certification geared towards the folk in the ISP sector.
FYI there is a new routing exam that will cover CCIP as well as CCDP and CCIP. This gives one an option to change paths. The following is the excerpt.
"The now-available BSCI exam (640-900...

"Serial0 is down, line protocol is down"
This output means you have a problem with the cable, channel service unit/data service unit (CSU/DSU), or
the serial line. You need to troubleshoot the problem with a loopback test. To do a loopback test, follow the
steps below:
Set the serial...
Mike, you should formalize your suggestion into an FAQ. i.e. How to Multiplex DSL Lines. Such a scenario is common in ISDN (BRI) lines, why not DSL??
Again, just a thought ;-) Regards,
Don
You can console by using a 25-pin to RJ-45 adapter on the router side connected via flat rollover cable to a RJ-45 to 9-pin adapter on your notebooks serial port. Regards,
Don
It's a detailed process, too long to spell out here. So check out this public Cisco link:

Don
HSRP isn't particular about what the external interfaces are, i.e. whether you connected to the internet via serial, ATM, ISND, etc.
The examples you are refering to include ethernet for one specific reason: HSRP can only provide automatic router backup when you configure it on Cisco routers...
Seriously though, check out www.blackbox.com. They got tons of stuff in there. Go to the "Product Listing" section and search for "T1 MUX". Multiplexers are a common piece in any shared fiber/copper install. With a T1, 2 routers and a MUX you can easily set up an...
Following MikeS' example, all you would need is the same cable you use for console connections. This is called a "rolloever" cable. Perhaps you got one with the routers. It is always a flat, baby-blue or black colored cable. It has a specific pin configuration, so don't try to use...
