No that's the problem. They are Auditors (See them 4 or 5 times a year) from the banks we deal with, using thier own notebooks attached to our LAN, so no they are not a member of the domain and joining them is not an option.
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to easily share a folder. This is the issue that I frequently run into. We have multiple audits through out the year and most of the time our Controller needs to share information with these auditors. So what I’ve done in the past is to...
Ok I got this figured out. I was doing a trace route from the remote location to the host site and discovered the 11th hop was timing out. I'm almost 100 percent positive that may be the issue. What do you guys think? I'm pretty sure the ip is owned by one communications which is our...
Ok, dropped the MTU to 1492 on the outside interface. Still didn't fix the issue. I can ping the site fine from both ends via the vpn tunnel with good response times, right around 42ms. We have another site that has higher response times and they don't have the same issues, perhaps because...
Hello,
We have a few site 2 site VPN's setup (PIX515 as the host and 501's as the remote peer) and we recently changed DSL providers at one location. They seem to be having a lot of lag or hanging so to speak. The users are doing a RDP session back to the host site and there are a few PC's...
Hello,
We currently have a remote site configured as a site to site VPN. Host end has a PIX515 and the remote end has a ASA5505. At the remote end we're getting new DSL service and a new static IP. Is it possible to change the public interface IP on the ASA and the remote public IP on the PIX...
You may want to check the /etc/security/passwd file. It contains the encrypted password and the last update. Perhpas that update field will help you. The format of the date is the number of seconds passed since Jan. 1, 1970. It would be easiest puting this into a script. Let me know if you'd...
Hello,
We've got 1 Windows 2003 Server (Standard Ed.) being used as a logon server/file server. All clients’ machines are XP Pro. Shares are mapped using Kixtart. Occasionally I have a few users who can't seem to access there shared drive due to improper permissions. After a reboot the issue is...
Hello,
I'm wondering how to NAT an internal address to a public address? We just implmented barracuda spam firewall setup 2 static translations, one to point to the pop3 server and one to poing to the smtp port on barracuda.

Hello,
We've got a Windows 2003 server (Standard) running Terminal Services. The server has roughly 30 or so users. There is one user who's profile can not be loaded when he logs in and a temporary profile is issued. A reboot after hours fixes the issue for a day or two. I'm guessing as more...
Hello,
What command would I use to reset a users password. I tried:
vpdn username dan password crap
It tell's me Dan exsits already, obviously. Also how would I delete a vpdn user?
Thanks,
Dan
Just thought I'd give an update to this.
Turns out our firewall had a "Field Notice" issued for an Ethernet Controller. Document ID 15905
The link was going up and down as indicated in syslog from our switch.
Thanks,
Dan
I think the key here is preventative maintenance. On our AIX 4.3 machine I added a script to crontab to run every morning and give me filesystem stats and the most recent errors.
Something like this directed to a file and piped to the mailx command (Very basic). Adjust size to your needs, we...

Thanks for the last reply.
Today it happened again and I found this in the log at the exact time it happened,
decaps: rec'd IPSEC packet has invalid spi for destaddr=vpn.Redlon-Johnson.com, prot=esp, spi=0x3d7851cc(1031295436), srcaddr=pool-70-16-65-202.port.east.verizon.net
If you're running RHE you should be able to disable the dhcpd using either chkconfig or you can use ntsysv and disable dhcpd to prevent startup on boot.
