To be more precise: All data is in one layer and those paths I want to delete can only be identified via their area size. I cannot work with the colors or stroke sizes.

I now found out that the Live Trace function IS capable of creating center lines of objects. But the Tracing options have to be really really finetuned to produce useful results. Center lines cannot be created for colored images and you have to be sure that for the 'Trace Settings' the 'Strokes'...
I found another solution: I'm using AlgoLab's raster to vector conversion software now. The have a function that let's you build center lines of objects, not outlines.
