Adding Office 2003 and Office 2000 ADM Templates into the same Group

Has anyone had the experience of having both the Office 2000 & Office 2003 ADM Templates into the same Group Policy Object? Some of our clients have Office 2000 installed, and some have 2003 - and i'm using the ADM templates to set the default save location for word, excel, access, powerpoint...

Adding Other OS drivers (such as NT) to 2003 Print Server

I want to add some printer drivers to my Windows 2003 Print Server - co that my older operatings systems such as Windows NT can pick up the drivers. Once a printer is shared, and i click additional drivers, i can select Windows NT - and it asks me for the path of the drivers. But even if I...

Changing File Associations for All Users of Workstation

I installed one application on a Windows XP Pro Workstation as an Administrator which changed the file association of .txe files from Notepad to another application - which I didn't want. I changed it back to Notepad and it all seemed fine until another user logged on. Then, I realised that...

Exchange Email not getting to some destinations

I have set up Exchange to send and receive email from my ISP using the POP3 connector, and to send out via SMTP. It works to some domains, but not others. First of all when I was told that an email wasn't received, I didn't believe it! I have tried various domains - gov.uk, co.uk, com etc and...

Any problems with 2003 and 2003 R" in the same domain?

Will there be any problems adding a second Windows Server 2003 R2 to my existing Windows 2003 Server network? I was just worried that when I promote the R2 version to a domain controller that it won't like the idea that my first domain controller was the original version of 2003 server...

using exchange to store email from my isp

Pat, Can you recommend a third party pop 3 connector? Otherwise the best option would be to set my domain on my SBS server as mydomain.com? So what steps do I have to take after that? Set the server to have a public IP and register the domain name? Many Thanks before hand....

Finding out when users last logged on?

Is there a way to find out when a user last logged on? I run a network in a school environment and I'm trying to find which users are not using the system. I'm sure at one point I managed to list all users and the last logon date using the "net" command from the command prompt. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have 5 users on my network which read email from 12 or so email addresses from my isp. Can exchange be used to check the email addresses which my isp have for me and forward the mail to the relevant user on my server? I have little knowledge of exchange but I understand I need to use...

importing admx templates into 2003 GPOs?

Mark, I thought that if you opened gpedit.msc on a vista machine when it is a part of a domain, with the policy definitions in the sysvol folder on a domain controller, it would automatically edit the centrally stored one instead of the local version! This may be the case why other vista...

importing admx templates into 2003 GPOs?

Well, I've tried adding the extra administrative templates too - and again, it will only allow the import of adm files and not ADMX - surely there is an issue with the software. Anyone had any sucess?

importing admx templates into 2003 GPOs?

From what I have read, Vista Group Policy cannot be assigned to a OU or group. You can only copy a configuration to a central store on a DC and have different settings for an administrator or non-administrator. If it is the case, it is going to cause me so many issues.... Also, on my network...

Group Policy for Vista Clients in 2003 Server

I realise that all Vista Clients can pick up group Policy from a central store on a Windows 2003 Server - under SYSVOL\Policydefinitions and then have the country code - As I am in the UK I'll assume is is EN-UK (I'm hoping someone will put me right if I've got the country code wrong) I'll then...

Printing to shared printers on a Windows 2003 Server from XP Clients.

My PC's aren't named by room but I was considering doing that. So in your script I'm guessting all the computer names start with IT1 or IT2 - so for example it would map a computer called IT1-001 to \\server1\IT1Laser - and map computer called IT2 to \\server1\D28Laser. Will the printer name...
