Nope, I am still searching for answers. I have swapped the array card, drive cages, everything. I also bought warranty so I could get support from Compaq/HP and even the techs there couldn't get it to work.
I will try that.
Also, I have a similar thread on this subject on the HP.com forum. Here is an excerpt from it. Perhaps you can answer this question as well?
Okay guys here is the run down.
Thank you very much for your help thus far. 4.9 seems to be working great. I ran it on a Windows PC...
Thanks for the reply.
There seems to be some kind of mistake in the HP/Compaq documentation. All the online docs say 5.5 will work however, when I load it into the server, it says it is not supported. I got off the phone with a tech at HP yesterday and they said 5.5 typically supports series...
Thanks for the tips. The only question I have an answer to right now is there are no errors in the logs. I can broswe the net on the server.
I can say with 80% confidence, that when I was doing preconfiguration on the server at my apartment, the clients go surf the net just fine.
I have not...
I have a weird problem with an Win 2003 server install.
My client has 4 windows XP machines. I have a windows 2003 server acting as a domain controller. When the PCs join the domain, they cannot use internet Explorer. I don't mean that they can't find any pages, I mean if I type "Google.com"...
I didn't have time to make it to this client yesterday, so I haven't tried the FQDN solution. However, is it possible to fix/repair WINS? Even in the FQDN solution fixes the problem of loggin on to the domain, I still can't get explorer to find other PCs in Work group networks.
I can ping by the domain name. I can even get Remote desktop connections by domain name.
I brought the problem PC to another job to test it out. I hooked into their network with valid IP settings. Typed \\PC-NAME at the run prompt of a PC I knew had shared folders, and I got \\PC-NAME...
The problem PC can join the domain. It works great if I log on as user not on a roaming profile. The system logs say "cant find profile" and doesn't give me any more details.
Once I am into the PC (where I logged on as a local account or I logged on using the default profile), and I go to...
I am having a wierd problem trying to set up a roaming profile on a Win 2003 server.
I created the user on the AD. I logged on to that user on one of the PCs. I went to system> advanced> user profiles and copied the profile on to a shared folder on the server. I set up the profile path of the...
Thanks for your replies.
I downloaded 5.5 because thats what Customer Support told me to download at HP.
Should the server boot from the CD? Somone on the HP support forum told me I need to make driver diskettes. When I looked on the CD (from a windows enviorment) nothing seemed to make much...
I bought a couple of old prolient servers (one is 3000 and one is a 5500). They have dual pentium III 550mhz processors.
They both came without hard drives (SCSI) and not configured. I bought 3 hard drives for the 5500 and am trying to get the server to run so I can install my operating system...
