sedj,
"Not sure I agree with that ... we've got a few Intel x86's with 8 CPUs, and they run like the wind. Much quicker than the 32 CPU Solaris/Sparc T2000 we've got - and about half the price (both machines purchased within a few months of each other). Plus the Solaris/Sparc box only has 1...

Ok, I got everything working now. A Dell Laptop D600 with ATI mobility Radeon 9000 running dual screen, internal 15" 1400x1050, external 20" TFT 1680x1050, on Solaris 10 x86. Thanx very much for your...

The best Unix, I mean from a technical viewpoint. Scalability, stability, performance, able to serve many users easily. I believe that Solaris comes close to those wishes?
I also believe that Windows is not so close to those wishes?
That is the question. Why hasnt anyone tried? It can not be, because noone has thought of it. So, what is the reason they havent tried? There must be a problem lurking deeper, than I know of? Does anyone know?
This is no troll but I only wonder which Unix is best? I heard that Linux kinda sucks, and Solaris is mature and better? Right now Im using Solaris x86. Would like to stick with one Unix. Which one?

Has anyone tried to...
Linux can read NTFS. Solaris can't. Linux is open, and the source code is available. Would it be possible to recompile the source code that allows Linux to read NTFS, under Solaris x86?
Why has nobody tried that?
